We collect furniture and appliances from households, hotels, recycling centres and other locations. We collect the following items:
  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • Electric cookers (if disconnected)
  • Washing Machines (if disconnected)
  • 3 piece suites
  • Settees
  • Sofa beds
  • Chest of drawers
  • Beds (base and mattress)
  • Chairs
  • Tables
  • Bookcases
  • Wall Units
  • Wardrobes
All items need to be in good condition, as they will be going into someone’s home. All beds, settees and armchairs must show that they meet the 1988 fire regulations. Ultimately whether we can collect an item will be at the driver’s discretion. We do not usually collect single items, but priority as to which particular items we need constantly changes, so we are flexible about this.

Our collection area covers Barnet, Brent, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. We will occasionally collect from other boroughs, but regrettably this does not include Westminster, due to their overzealous issuing of parking tickets.

Our collection times are between 9.30-12.30 and 12.30-3.30 Monday to Friday. There is a charge of £10 for collections to help cover our costs.

Collections are usually booked 1-2 weeks in advance at a mutually convenient time, and when booking we need as accurate a list as possible of items to collect, to enable us to plan the most efficient and timely van schedule. To arrange a collection, please phone us on 020 8493 0900 or e-mail us at info@restorecp.org with your details.
Furniture:
We usually have a wide and ever-changing range of beds, settees, tables, chairs and all household furniture.  All items that we receive are sold at low cost, and we now operate a dual pricing structure. In order to obtain goods from our furniture store at the lowest price service-users need to be referred to us by one of the many agencies which we work in partnership with, or to show evidence of being on benefits, on low income, a student or OAP. Members of the public who do not have a letter of referral or proof of benefits are welcome to purchase from us, at a secondary price which still represents excellent value for these reuse items.

We are open for people to view our items from 9.00-4.00 Monday to Friday - no appointment necessary.

Appliances:
All refrigeration units are checked and guaranteed for 6 months. They are available to anyone to come and purchase from our showroom at the front of our premises. We have new cookers and refrigeration units for sale in our showroom. All new appliances come with a full 12 month manufacturers warranty.  We do not provide washing machines, but have contacts with a local washing machine supplier who rents a small space in our showroom to display his machines.

Delivery:
We aim, where possible, to deliver within 2 working days.

Delivery charges:
Referred clients: Free (apart from Westminster)
Residents of N15, N17, N22: Free
Residents of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington, Waltham Forest: £10
Residents of Westminster: £25
All other areas: £20
For our clients to get the full benefit from our services, including free delivery (not including Westminster) they need to obtain a letter of referral from one of the many statutory or voluntary agencies with which we work in partnership.

This is driven by the aim to ensure that the people who obtain low cost furniture from us are those individuals who really need it, and cannot afford to buy such furniture at new prices. While showing proof of benefits or low income is one way of doing this, a referral form with clients’ details shows that their need is genuine.

We aim to work with as many partner agencies as we can, to ensure that all sections of the community can access our services. We accept referrals from:
  • housing departments
  • housing associations
  • homeless organisations
  • social services
  • rehabilitation centres
  • asylum seeker units
  • mental health units
  • community groups
  • probation service
We have a standard referral form which we provide to referral organisations. If you represent an organisation which would like to refer service-users to us, please contact us on 020 8493 0900 or e-mail us at info@restorecp.org with your details.

Much of the work of ReStore Community Projects is done by volunteers. In fact, without individuals who give their time freely to us, we would simply be unable to operate.

We run structured training placements for volunteers, who operate in all departments of the charity – in the office, in the warehouse, in the workshop and on the vans. A number of our volunteers have been out of paid work for long periods, and volunteering at a project such as this can be a crucial stepping stone to eventually finding paid employment.

Volunteers come to us from a variety of sources, such as through a training programme, a work placement, a volunteer bureau or other agency, or they simply contact us directly. We are proud that we have been able to offer several volunteers full time employment, and are keen to recruit from within whenever a vacancy occurs.

If you are interested in volunteering for ReStore, please phone us on 020 8493 0900 or e-mail us at info@restorecp.org with your details. Similarly, if you represent an organisation which wishes to place volunteers with us, please contact us.
