ReStore Community Projects is a registered charity which recycles and reuses domestic furniture and appliances for the benefit of people in need.
ReStore Community Projects was previously known as the Kings Cross Furniture Project, as this is where the company began and was located, until the move in January 2001. With the relocation to Tottenham, the diversification of products sold and services undertaken, the name was changed to reflect this. ReStore receive no direct grants from central or local government, but are funded by a combination of self-generated income from the charges made from the items, revenue for providing services to local authorities and grants from charitable trusts. The company is developed further through their staff and volunteers, who are passionate about what they do and all enjoy working at, and growing ReStore.
The ReStore showroom and warehouse is available for those in need of low cost household items. These people include students, pensioners, people who can give evidence of their proof of benefits and referral clients. ReStore work with many referral agents for the benefit of others, these agents can include social services, housing associations and many other support groups. Recognising that many employed, but low income families need access to our services, we are now open to the general public and operate a dual pricing system which still enables all to access quality low cost items.
The main areas of activities which ReStore undertake are; the collection of good quality furniture and appliances, the sale of furniture, the sale of appliances and delivery of items to clients. We are currently working closely with Enfield, Haringey and Camden council to remove the re-useable bulky furniture from residents. We are also working with Veolia Environmental Services and Premiere Sustain to divert bulky items going to landfill and increase reuse.
With the recent addition of extra warehouse space, ReStore now has a larger stock of furniture with a high turnover. The range is wide and ever-changing from single and double beds, sofas (including two and three piece suites), tables, chairs, wardrobes and many more household furniture items. All items are in good condition, sold at a low cost and all furniture required, carries the fire regulation labels.
We have since April 2011 opened our doors to the public allowing them to purchased re-used furniture, we run a 2 tiered pricing system those who are referred or show that they are on benefits pay a lower price, those who are not referred and not on benefits pay a higher price.
ReStore also have a range of brand new and second hand kitchen appliances, these include fridges, freezers, washing machines and gas and electric ovens. All refrigeration units are checked and guaranteed for 6 months. They are available to anyone to come and purchase from the showroom at the front of our premises. There are also new cookers on sale which come with a full 12 month manufacturer’s warranty.
